Newspapers and magazines:
- The Boston Public Library on Copley Square has a subscription to many newspapers from around the country and the world. Check out their newspaper room. It’s worth the trip just to see the beautiful architecture. It also has a nice cafe and peaceful courtyard.
- Out of Town News on Harvard Square in Cambridge may have the foreign newspaper or magazine you are looking for.
- Barnes and Noble and Borders Bookstores sell some foreign magazines in their larger city locations.
- The Boston Globe – daily
- The Boston Herald – daily
- The Metro – free at T stops, very abbreviated version of the news
- Boston Magazine – published monthly, purchase at newsstands
- The Improper Bostonian – not a naughty magazine at all! Pick one up for free from newsboxes near T stations around town.
- Financial Times also available at some outlets
Books:
The Boston Public Library has a large collection of books in foreign languages. Anyone resident in Massachusetts can get a card to borrow books, or your local library may be able to order them for you through an excellent inter-library loan program. Boston Libraries can also provide you with free tickets for museums.
Television:

- BBC America, TV5 (Francophone), CKSH –9 (French Canadian), depending on your area.

- WGBH public FM 89.7 broadcasts BBC World News from 5-6 a.m. Monday –Friday;
- WBUR FM 90.9 broadcasts BBC programs at various times; check their website www.wbur.org, and search for BBC schedule for more details. BBC World Service may also be available on your computer through streaming audio. Check www.bbc.co.uk to see if it works for you.
- 740 AM has world news in French from 7-9 a.m.
- BBC Radio 3 and 4 are also available on the internet.
