    Hi Lalitha,
Could we have a person share their country’s holiday traditions at our Holiday Party? It would just have to be a 10 minute sharing time.

      Hi Linda,

That’s a great idea. There are so many countries represented. Perhaps we can have 2 or 3 people volunteer to talk about the Holiday traditions of their country for 3-4 minutes each.

    Dear IWCB members,

We are such a diverse and interesting group of women and I know that we can share aspects of our unique cultures, (about society, education, language, history, arts, poetry, traditions, travel, food, customs, anything else you like), that would be of great interest to all of us. I would really love to hear ideas from all of you! So far I have had one response.
I hope that you will all be able to come for the kickoff of our first Cultural Exchange program!

In November, could we share recipes, so we can all try a new dish for Thanksgiving?
    Just an idea, Ines

  4. Lalitha says:

    Hi Ines,
Nice idea. Members could bring a favorite Thanksgiving dish to share at the meeting and they could then email their recipe to everyone after the meeting. That would be fun!

Thanks so much to Lalitha, Iko and Meera for the presentation on Japanese culture and weddings! Joann will be posting photos soon!
I’m so sorry that I’ll be out of town next month as it sounds like another great event! Could someone please take photos? Thanks!

    Dear Friends,
The upcoming Thursday February 9th Exchange Cultural program at the Brookline Library is going to be a very unique event. Please do come and show your support!

Our own Iko Burn’s daughter-in-law Kalianne’s Mom, Mrs. Wen, danced for the Royal Family of Cambodia as a young girl. Mrs. Wen has kindly agreed to do a dance for us following which she will be showing us the steps to a folk dance that we can all join in. What a treat!
Kalianne has graciously agreed to be the interpreter for her mother who will talk about her life growing up in Phnom Penh before the Khmer Rouge took over at which point she and her husband had to flee from the country. There will be an opportunity for discussion and asking questions.
I have only heard from 8 people so far. Five are attending and three cannot. Please RSVP to my email ASAP and let me know if you are coming (or not) and what dish you will be bringing to the Potluck. I look forward to hearing from you. Thank you!
